New Painting Unveiled: “Isis Dreaming of Sunflowers” 🌻
Spray Paint and Acrylic on burned canvas. 16×20
I’m thrilled to share my latest work, “Isis Dreaming of Sunflowers.” This piece emerged through me as I engaged in my unique process of channeling. Through quick bursts of spray paint and washes of thinned acrylic paint and water while deeply immersed in vibratory sounds and music, virtually lost to the material world.
I started this image with spray paint, then moved into acrylic paints after first instinctually burning portions of the canvas. Eventually, as I worked in more color, I started to see the heads and stems of sunflowers as I fell more and more into an ecstatic state, which I am apt to do when I paint these days.
As I worked, sunflower heads began to appear, subtly forming on the canvas. It was as if the sunflowers were waiting there, dried and lifeless in another realm or dimension waiting to be brought back to life. At one point I saw the flowers as if through a keyhole of leaves, and had the thought that they were someone’s only view and that I was seeing it through their eyes, these feelings were very intense and I felt fearful for whomever I was feeling, as if they were on the ground and peering out helplessly through the thin covering of leaves.
Gradually the keyhole took the shape of a robe or veil as I worked through the field of sunflowers, and the powerful image of the Goddess Isis revealed herself! I imagined the field of sunflowers was a moving image projected through her from another dimension, her flowing veil acting as a lens. I imagined these sunflowers as entities in another dimension facing me through space and time.
I felt a profound connection to the ethereal beauty and symbolism of both Isis and the sunflowers. The sunflowers representing the fragile material life, growing and dying; and the Goddess Isis representing the spirit realm. The goddess, in a serene ecstatic dream state, projecting these vibrant flowers, the brief lightning flashes of life.
This painting fills me with a blend of vision and wonder. Wonder at it all and how it all works and how I feel like I get a small piece of the puzzle with each painting and vision. The visions that I have while I paint make me feel a connection to another realm in a way that I don’t get to feel in any other way, except maybe when I’m lost in playing or intently listening to music.
I am in love with this Magical life
